Triathlon

Introducing our new Super Sprint distance

Are you looking to enter your first Triathlon this year?

Our event is perfect for beginners who wish take on their first event.

Don’t take our word for it….

Vicky Warr who took part in our event last year shared an ‘Easy transition, great course, lovely scenery and friendly/enthusiastic marshals all helped make my first triathlon as easy as it was ever going to be’

and thanks Deborah Stewart who said ‘Great event in a beautiful location. Well organised, suitable for all from the novice to those who should know better! Loved the support from TriSudbury, so please book them again!’

First of all, its a beach start for the 400 metre swim, so you will begin the swim portion at the waters edge which allows you to enter the water when you feel comfortable to do so. Yes, appreciated it can be a daunting experience, and it really doesn’t matter if you are a male or female. However, its not as difficult and scary as you believe, much of your anxiety can be brought on by panicking and panting which will cause you to quickly become out of breath in the water and out of control which you don’t want. Try to focus on what is in your control such as long exhales and smooth strokes. We suggest that you position yourself at the back and to the side of the pack, and if you are not keen on entering the water with the group, then consider allowing the swimmers to take off, giving you space in the water. As you arrive back to shore, our friendly marshals are there to greet you and assist you if needs be.

In a stunning setting, it can’t get much better than that for beginners to put you at ease, onto the 20 Kilometre rolling bike section take you out towards Suffolk Foodhall (no cake stop today!) with amazing views of the Orwell Bridge, its an out and back bike leg where you will return back to transition for the 3 kilometre run, once again surrounding the Alton Water.

Training for and completing a triathlon is a real achievement. After you finish, you'll be able to celebrate with family and friends who have come to support you on this special day.

I’ve had a few emails regarding the complement of kit needed for a Triathlon which I have pulled together, some of which you may not need or require due to personal preference and it may also be down to weather conditions on the day for example, it is intended to provide you with a guide for all eventualities ~ I hope you find this useful?
